Your first 90 days as a project manager

Passing a qualification and doing the job are different problems. This guide bridges the two with a structure for your first three months, plus a free ninety day checklist that runs in your browser.

Days 1 to 30: understand before changing

Map the delivery, the decision rights and the people. Find out how the work actually flows, who signs off what, and where the last project got stuck, before you propose a single change.

Days 31 to 60: make control visible

Get a plan, a RAID log, a decision log and a short status rhythm in place. Visible control is what earns you room to improve things later.

Days 61 to 90: improve delivery deliberately

Pick a small number of improvements with evidence behind them, agree them with your sponsor and measure the effect. Improvement without evidence reads as churn.
