PMP exam changes 2026
The PMP exam was updated on 9 July 2026. The headline change is the domain weighting: People moves from 42 to 33 per cent, Process from 50 to 41 per cent, and Business Environment from 8 to 26 per cent.
That rebalance matters more than it first looks. Business Environment questions now make up a quarter of the paper, so organisational context, compliance and value are no longer a corner of the syllabus.
What the new emphasis covers
Responsible use of artificial intelligence in delivery, sustainability and wider impact, stakeholder engagement as continuous work rather than a plan, and outcomes, value and business impact ahead of output tracking.
Format facts
180 questions in 240 minutes with two ten minute breaks, and roughly 40 per cent predictive content with the remaining 60 per cent split between adaptive or agile and hybrid situations.
Practical study implications
Spend proportionally more time on business environment reasoning, practise judging delivery approach rather than memorising process names, and be able to explain why a decision serves the organisation, not only the project.
